Screen "Ripples"?

Hi, I have a newish MacBook an I just noticed some ripples on the screen (the screen itself; this isn't a software issue.). Whenever I move, I notice little markings in the screen. Is this normal? A part of the "glossy" display? Or is there a problem with my Mac?

The symptoms described do not sound normal. You need to contact Apple and have this looked at/repaired under warranty. - GDF

are your ripples going up on the screen during playback of videos or anything graphics intensive? I have a macbook Pro and have just noticed something that may be the same. Im curious to know what the problem is

The ripples don't physically move; they just appear to do so when I move my head and the glare in the screen (or any lighter bit against a darker background) moves with my head. But they're hard to see when the screen is off; almost like hundreds of little scratches. They appear to be about 2-3mm deep (or high?) and go in a pattern from the bottom right to top left of the screen.

I've seen ripples on my MB screen too. I think it may be the desktop image itself since I don't see them all the time. Most of the time I see slight striations like a very thin raw silk filtering the light. Change the background to various solid colors and see what that does for you.

I think the screen may be a low to mid level quality which is typical for the entry level MacBook. It is slightly fuzzy and certainly not sharp.

LOL I used to have the same problem with my iBook. Whenever I hit or tap the computer in a certain way on one side, a little tiny section on the opposite side on the lcd would "ripple" like waves in the ocean. To be honest I found it quite amusing. This is an manufacturing error though, not a software issue. You can change the background to a colour where it's hard to notice the rippling but it won't go away. You need to take it in if you want it fixed. I never did cause it was quite hard for me to reproduce the rippling.
