Do they sell just the 2-prong part of the adapters?

Hi all,

Hope this hasn't already been addressed in the discussions, but I couldn't find the answer in a search.

One of the prongs on my 2-prong removable adapter piece broke off and I was wondering if I can buy just the 2-prong piece or do I have to buy a whole new adapter? The laptop is still under the 1 year warranty and I have Applecare; would that cover the power adapter as well? I hate to drop $79, especially since I can still use the 3-prong cord instead, but it is nice sometimes to have a shorter cable. I'd ask Apple support except I am at work and the hold tim is quite long. Anyone have this problem?

I'm pretty sure they have it as a service part at a Apple store or thru an authorized service provider, but if worst comes to pass, you can buy the [World Travel Adapter kit|http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8794G/B?fnode=home/shop mac/macaccessories/power&mco=MTM2Nzg&p=1&s=topSellers] for $39. And you'd also be all set for your next trip to Europe... 😀

For anyone needing to replace the power brick altogether, remember the MBP uses the 85 watt model.

Thank you so much! I just looked at the Travel Adapter kit and a thought occurred to me...would the 2-prong piece from my iPod power brick work? I seem to recall the iPod brick is considerably smaller, but the Travel Adaptor kit stated that the pieces sold in the kit would work on any brick-style power supply, so maybe the size size of the brick doesn't matter? At any rate I will try phoning Apple again after work, and see if they can just send me a replacement piece.
