Beware of Quicktime 7.5 Mishaps

(As I posted this on the iMovie HD discussions)

For those who are frequent users of iMovie,
especially the iMovie HD 6, upgrading your Quicktime to 7.5,
could frustrate your iMovie.

Symptoms include iMovie failing to playback smoothly and Quicktime not having audio when playing a .flv file.

I advice those who are frequent users of iMovie HD to NOT
upgrade it until a newer version of Quicktime will patch things up.

If you already have upgraded and noticed the symptoms above, then you can downgrade using Pacifist at http://www.charlessoft.com/

Try downloading Perian if you haven't already done so.

Yeah that works too, Steve A.
but it still wouldn't fix the iMovie playback problem.
But if you're not an iMovie user, the heck with it,
it wouldn't matter.

Actually, I use it fairly often... don't seem to have any issues with iMovie HD 6 playback.

Checked various .mov, .mp4, .avi (all valid QuickTime containers), and DV files which were imported. All appear fine to me.

did you consider having Quicktime 7.5?
if you did then what do you think could be causing this?

all i did was downgrade to Quicktime 7.4.5 and iMovie HD works perfectly fine now, it's obvious it's Quicktime 7.5
