disc burner or software not found

it looks like we have the same problem...

I have a Intel Mac running 10.5.4 (2x2.66GHz)
iTunes 7.6.2 (9)

I can burn CDs in Finder but when I try and burn CDs in iTunes I get the message:
"Disc burner or software not found..."

I went to Advanced Preferences and its says that: CD Burner: No Supported Disc Burners Found

any ideas????

I Updated to iTunes 7.7 (43) and it fixed my problem. I can now burn!!!!

I recently have encountered this problem. I put in an audio CD and ran a diagnostics here is what came up.

i am having the same problem. i have a brand new iMac (about 2-3 months old) and this is the first time i've tried to burn a disc (kinda wierd..?) itunes says "disc burner or software not found" but i am able to burn through finder.

after everytime i attempt to burn through iTunes, it ejects the disc and will not keep a disc in it until i restart. brand new mac + not being able to burn cds through iTunes + not having a car to take my comp to the genius bar = i lose.

Trash: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
Quit iTunes.
Reopen iTunes.
Try burning again.
It worked for me, hope it helps you.
Sorry, can't help the Windows users. They're not in the right section of the discussion forum anyway. But hey, I just made this mistake posting in the Windows forum, so it's all good.

Hey, thanks for your post. i felt a bit unsure about deleting my preferences (but i did anyway - i figured if anything went wrong, apple would help me.) anyway, by deleting the preferences, my mac let me burn thru itunes!

Happy to help! Yeah, I'm always hesitant to trash a preference file, but keep in mind, you can always drag it back in if it doesn't do what you think it will do or causes you to lose something important.
