I just got this brand new imac 24" and had it custom configured with a 500gb HD, ive had it for 2 days, and I recently hooked up an external HD that had music on it so I could transfer my files over to the imac, Finder froze, and so did Safari, so the only way I could shut it down was to press the power button in the back... when i started it back up, i got a white screen followed by 2 really loud beeps and then the beeps continued in groups of 3 beeps. I tried the SMC fix, and all of the different start up key combos and none of them worked... I also have a wireless keyboard, i dont know if that has anything to do with it... Maybe it can't link with the computer? I would really like to avoid driving an hour to my nearest mac store to have this resolved... After all, I did just spend $2000 and i have had it for 2 days. PLEASE HELP!

Sorry to hear that. Contact Apple. It sounds like you RAM has failed.
how should i fix tha?
You will not have to fix that; it will be covered by warranty.
Take it back to the shop and they will fix it for you.

I've had mine for just 6 weeks and it has froze up on me 3 times already.
First time it happened was when I updated to 10.5.4. I also get a beeping in the background that you can hardly hear. Been in the shop and is going back in on Monday. It freezes up and this time it turned it self off and when it restarted up I got the dreaded white screen with the gray file and flashing ?. I think this time they will try to fix the RAM. When it seems to happen it has come out of sleep and Safari has been running. Repair guy just doesn't understand/believe me when I tell him what is going on. After it rests for a while it comes back normal.
I am a newbie also. Converted from HP/Windows. Never even used a MAC before. Not a good transition for me.
Good Luck tangoechodelta.

I just got the same thing last night on my MacBook Pro. Called apple care and we tried a few things....didn't help. The tech did say it probabaly has something to do with the RAM. I guess there is a fix for it but suggested I take it to the instore techs to have them re-sit the ram.
So tonight I'm taking it into the store.
I'll let you know.
Prior to this happening I was downloading video to FC Express. Then I decided to do the system up date. After it was was done, it shut down to reboot and that's when I got the dreaded white screen followed by the annoying beeping.....
HOpe it's an easy fix as I'm set to head out of town on Wed.

This very situation has just happened to my Intel iMac. Turn it on, just a white screen, beeps twice, then a succession of 3 beeps. I had boosted my base RAM to 2GB, so I removed the extra strip, and the iMac works again. So it would seem that my extra RAM has failed. Oh well, at least the Mac is OK. So if your Mac is beeping at you, suspect your RAM. I hope this helps.
