Firewire 800 PCI-E Card not detected

Firewire 800 PCI-E Card not detected

Hi Everyone,
I just add a new pci-e card to my G5 and...it's not detected! it's a Pci Express card with 2 firewire 800 and 1 firewire 400 from Apiotek (mac OSX ok) with a T.I Chipset.
I did a reset-nvram and a reset-all from Open Firmware but nothing seems to work.
any suggestion?
I add a 4 USB card Pci-Express (Sonnet) and dat card works so I assume that I need o activate something in order to make my Firewire card detected by the G5.
I really need your help.

Hi-

Welcome to Discussions!

Mac OS X OK, but what machine? MacPro, maybe? The PPC G5 can be a bit harder to fit.
Since the card doesn't show, could be a bad card, or incompatible. You have done all you need to do. There is no necessity to "activate" it. Should be plug and play.
Did you try plugging an external device into it?

Hi,

It's a PPC G5 Quad (4x2,5Ghz) with 7Gig of Ram.
Yes i try to plug un external device (external hard disc, audio card (rme fireface 800))
in fact When I go to the system info this is what I got for this card: pci-bridge :

Type : pci
Bus : PCI
Logement : SLOT-2
Identifiant du fournisseur : 0x104c
Identifiant du périphérique : 0x8231
Identifiant de révision : 0x0003

but no more.
so I assume that the card is well plug but I need something else to make it work?

The G5 sees the card, but it doesn't work....external devices are not seen.
There are no drivers needed.
You have reset the NVRAM.
The card should be plug and play.
I think you may have a bad card.

Aaxeon and Sonnet are safe bets.

Hello,
I also just tried a PCI-e FW800 card in a G5 quad and found it wsas not recognized. It appears the TI chipset is not compatible with the G5 Quad.
