Pages document automactically sends as zip file when attached to email

When I send a document created in pages and attach it to an email it is automatically sent as a zip file. Is there a way to have it send in a non zip format?

MacBook 3,1, Mac OS X (10.5.3)

Greetings,

You would first need to save it to your documents folder, and then compress it with whatever compression program you need to use. ZIP is the default format, so if you want, say, .RAR or something else, you would need to get that program.

Otherwise you could use the command line and .tar it. The are all kinds of ways, but directly from pages to email it will be.zip, as far as I can tell.

Cheers,

Ernie,

I cannot reproduce what you say -- although it looks like it sends a Pages document. Mail zips the document (which in turn, is MIME encoded). On receipt, it displays a Pages icon. But what was actually sent was a zip file, as you can see (or at least I can see, on my machine) by looking at the raw source. Mail automatically zips +and unzips+ the attachment. Of course, if the recipient is not using Mail he may see the zipped file.

I don't find the "windows friendly" setting makes any difference for this behavior.

If you want to send the Pages document to a person who has a Windows computer I have a solution. Click on File and then on export. A menu should appear that says PDF, Word, RTF, and Plain Text. Click on Word and then Click on Next. Then save it to the folder that you want to save it to. Doing this creates a DUPLICATE, it does NOT change the original document. Then go on hotmail and like normally add the document as an attachment.
