Choppy streaming video

Okay so since upgrading to Leopard from Tiger, most streaming video (especially YouTube) plays video but every 5-10 seconds pauses the video briefly, sort of like the way a scratched DVD skips.

I'm on a very fast cable connection, and it's not an issue of the video not downloading fast enough.

check to make sure you have the latest version of adobe flash. Also, if you wait for the video to load does it still skip?

I found this happened when using Firefox... an upgrade to version 3 seemed to help.

okay so I updated to the latest version of flash and I'm still getting choppy spurts on youtube. For the record I use the Flock web browser which I believe uses the firefox engine.

I have the same issue. Wondered if you were able to get this resolved? Did you do a clean install when you upgraded to leopard? I started to notice this when I erased vista and vmware fusion form my comp.

I had this same problem, but all you have to do is go to adobe and update your flash player and then everything will be working right. I did and it no longer lags

I do believe I have the latest flash player installed on my mac.

Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.124.0

Any other suggestions?

You can fix choppy streaming video by changing your Flash Settings to allow "Unlimited" Storage.

Right-click on the Flash movie that you are trying to view in a Web page. Choose Settings.
Drag the slider all the way to the right--this is the "Unlimited" Setting.

I dl'd latest Adobe Flash Player 10UB and installed. Did the right-click thing and moved slider all way to right (Unlimited setting)

and still get choppy streaming video - every 10 seconds a pause for a few seconds as if it is "buffering".

any other suggestions?

I too am having the same problem with my brand new macbook pro. I have the latest version of Flash and tried the unlimited tip. It is still happening, any suggestions?

Same problem here. Late 2006 macbook pro. never had a problem til this week. really annoying. tried the new flash player and "unlimited" adjustment... still poor video. jumpy.

I noticed this at first on my new Late 2008 MacBook Pro. I resolved the problem by going into the wireless configuration settings of my Time Capsule (same for Airport Extreme) and changing the multicast rate from 1 to 11.

I have the same problem with streaming video. I don't have that issue when I bring my Dell work laptop home so I know it's not my internet connection. I've followed all the suggestions and still have choppy video coming in. I've gone through all my internet plug-ins to make sure I have the most up-to-date versions. My iMac is six years old but moving iPhoto and iTunes to an external hard drive, I have 27 GB of hard drive space and I bumped up my memory to 1.25 GB. So what gives? Any ideas?

Having the same problem as others are describing. Any new word on possible solutions or reasons behind this malfunction. Hulu/flash streaming worked flawlessly for over a year and then went kaput. Can't seem to fix it.
