Apple server shutdown is blocking complete 2.0 update

I just got off the phone (it's now 9:19 a.m.) with an Apple tech support rep because my last update to 2.0 would not complete -- the "accessing iTunes store" part. The tech said that Apple's server has shut down because of the huge surge of people who are updating their phones. They are now working on it, he said.

global rollouts just do not work !!!!

surely anyone with common sense would know this.....why not just issue the update to each country as they reached the 8:02 timeline, but no, they released to billions at once....!!!!
