Insane! I upgraded to 2.0 on two of my 3 original iPhones. I only have a ATT cell phone. No landline. This way for 7 years now.

I'm stuck on the iTunes screen too for hours. No I get this error on two computers

All of the PR and hype, and this is what Apple gives the world. Unfortunately this is what people will remember from their Apple experience.

I called ATT, they transfer me to Apple. Apple voice tree transfers me BACK to ATT without even talking to an Apple support person. ATT says they can't help, it's Apple iTunes that is down and there is not timetable to fix it.

In the mean time I don't have a phone. All I wanted was the 2.0 on my original iPhones.

I had told my kids I thought the update would come sometime during the week, along with my 4 dot mac to changeovers. I told them no way Apple will be able to handle the demand of all the new 3G iPhones, original iPhone 2.0 upgrades and dotmac to dotme all on same day. I as wrong.

Apple waited to do ALL this at once. What was anyone thinking at Apple?

So now I get this BS message "iPhone activations unavailable at this time"

Well, I finally got back to "Accessing iTunes Store" instead of the error message.

Kinda sad that seeing that is an improvement.

I finally got mine working. Appears that it is just a matter of time. This is totally unacceptable. Furthermore, you can bet Apple will delete all these posts in order to give the impression that all is well with the iPhone.

For those panicked, just wait. You have my sympathy.

No it's not working... They now have a message up when the phone tries to access the iTunes Store.

"iPhone activations are unavailable at this time. We are sorry, we are unable to process any new activations at this time. Please disconnect your iPhone and try again later."

Isn't that just super... After they Brick your phone!!!! Someone should be fired for this mess!!!!!

Understandable?? Are you joking?? I do not understand not being able to use my telephone...

I'm not interested in browsing or using apps. I'd like to make and receive phone calls.

Not a smart idea to update a device while millions of others are trying to do this too, when you know you have to leave town for a week.

    Here is another hint:

If you have to do this a bunch (clicking off clicking on, clicking "ok") just pull up automator, record your self doing that, and then copy and past that action about 60 times. It worked like a charm for me, and now my phone is restoring my media!

If those were really the scariest 30 minutes of your life, I hope you know how lucky you are.

Ok, here is how I just got it to work for me.. I had the accessing itunes wait for over an hour. Then the error, over and over. I had been waiting for so long and disconnecting the phone and reconnecting wasn't helping during the accessing itunes problems, I didn't think to try this when I got the new error. As soon as I did an eject then unplug of phone then an exit of itunes then a restart of itunes and a reconnection of phone, things worked immediately. Hope it helps.

Unfortunately this is not true... at this point after installation of 2.0 firmware my iPhone is in a semi-brick mode. It needs to access iTunes Store to be enabled.
