I've discovered the following problems:

1) New Calendar entries on my iPhone do not appear to sync to the PC
2) A new calendar under My Calendars is created and named "Home"
3) The new entries as described in number 1 above show up in this new "Home" calendar
4) New Calendar entries created in Outlook 2007 under the "Calendar" calendar sync to the iPhone
5) New Calendar entries created in Outlook 2007 under the "Home" calendar sync to the iPhone
6) New Calendar entries created on the iPhone sync to the Outlook 2007 "Home" calendar
7) If I delete the "Home" calendar in Outlook 2007 and clear the Deleted Items folder to completely remove it, it will be recreated next time I sync to the iPhone (I have to make a new iPhone Calendar entry for this to happen).

My current config:
- iPhone 1.1.3
- Windows Vista
- Outlook 2007
- iTunes 7.7

This appears to have started Thursday night July 10th. That is when I installed iTunes 7.7. I may not have noticed except that I was trying to upgrade to iPhone 2.0 and was getting an error -43 during the backup process. I was informed that the upgrade couldn't backup my iPhone and that all iPhone data would be erased.

I have the exact same problem. Contact information syncs correctly in both directions. Calendar entries sync from the PC to the iPhone but not the other way around! I also had a problem trying to sync my Outlook calendar to Mobile Me. Contact information synchronized successfully but not calendar. I tried disabling add-ins as suggested in support documentation but this did not solve the problem. Has anyone successfully synchronized an Outlook 2007 Calendar with Mobile Me?

Just adding my 2 cents - same issue of not being able to sync, but with Outlook 2003 running on XP, after 2.0 and iTunes 7.7 update.
Contacts do update, it seems to be strictly the Calendar (or, now the two calendars - Home and Outlook) which will not update from the iPhone to the PC. I have reset the sync (no luck), tried to create an entry into the Outlook Calendar, again no luck. The existing entries, created in Outlook 2003 on the PC, are all sitting in the Home calendar, and I'm not willing to erase the Outlook calendar sitting on the server and trying to replace it with the one on the iPhone (as suggested in an Apple KB article elsewhere). I may try the complete removal/reload of the software on the PC and see what that does.

Okay, all - Try this:

1) I went to settings on the phone and changed the default calendar from "home" to Calendar.
2) I in outlook, I deleted the Home Calendar
3) In Itunes, under info, I told it to only sync with the "Calendar" calendar.
4) For the **** of it, I rebooted the system and the phone. YMMV.
5) I plugged in and prayed.
6) It all worked - kinda. Old appointments in the phone that had not synced did not sync. New test appointments did. I basically retyped all my appointments that were in the phone but not into outlook back into the phone and synced it again. They then appeared in outlook.

I'll be wary of what I add tomorrow, but I think this will fix it. If it does, please send check or money order to:

Just kidding : ). Best of luck, all.

This all sounds pretty logical, thanks for posting! I'd like to try what you're suggesting...but can't figure out how to get past Step 1. Where on the iPhone can I change 'default calendar' from 'home' to 'calendar'? Is this really an iPhone setting, or did you mean iTunes? Also...is your fix still working reliably? Hoping so...as this bug is super frustrating.

I wonder if the problem stems from having more than one calendar in Outlook? After reading your post, I decided to try deleting the second calendar I have in Outlook (one is called Calendar, which is my primary calendar, and the other is my Kid's Calendar, where I keep track of their schedules).

I deleted the Kid's Calendar, exited Outlook, re-booted the PC.

Then, I tried to sync again - no luck but I did notice that there were no longer 2 calendars available in Settings.

I then re-set the sync history in iTunes and set the synchronization to only sync the Calendar and replace what was on the iPhone with what was on my computer.

Now, here's the strange part - events that I had entered on the phone that had previously not synchronized with Outlook did not go away on the iPhone - BUT, now, calendar events synchronize perfectly in both directions!!!

My guess is that you have to have only 1 Outlook calendar and what made it work was re-setting the sync history after deleting the second calendar. I'm not sure if that's exactly why it now works, but I can live without my second calendar for now! Maybe this will work for someone else too!

The setting is in iTunes, not the iPhone. Open iTunes and in the phone settings, click on Info. Then, scroll to the bottom where you will see the option of which Outlook calendar to sync with. I've been doing more digging on the web and it looks like the issue is that iTunes can't sync more than one Outlook calendar and can only sync to the default Outlook calendar. Since I was only able to get the sync to work in both directions after I deleted my second Outlook calendar, I think that must be the problem. It looks like the resolution is to only use 1 Outlook calendar and make sure it's the default calendar.

iPhone will not sync to Outlook 2007 after 2.0 & iTunes 7.7 update!
