iPhone 2.0 - Can't locate me in Google Maps

I need an answer to the same issue...I dont know whats going on with it. It seems like a minor issue, but this is something that I use a far amount! Especially right now since I am doing a road trip from Texas to Washington (state)!!! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Getting the same problem here - tried a complete restoration but no joy

To be honest mine has never really located me anywhere near, I think the closest it ever got was 100miles... maybe us in the UK have a poorer network to locate ourselves

This feature always worked fine for me with the old software. Upgraded to 2.0 last night. I live in West London and Google maps is now locating me in Kansas!!! What on earth is going on?

this happened to me right after the 2.0 firmware upgrade. after it managed to locate me it then did it much faster the second, third, fourth time etc...

I've justed dropped a pin in my home location, right on my house in Hull, in google maps. I try to "locate" myself and it moves away to Sheffield. Is there anyway to improve the accuracy, like teach it where you are...?

let me guess....Wichita, KS? Thats where it found me the one time that it found me....however, I'm not in Kansas haha...

how long did you get it go to try to search until it found you?

Same problem here. Original iPhone upgraded to 2.0. When I ask gMaps to locate me 9 times out of 10 it just searches and searches endlessly. It did work once this morning when i was out, but then after that every time i try again it just shows me all blue instead of the map.

Annoying, since it always used to work so well on version 1.x

Hi all. Same problem here. Even tried a full restore and re-install of 2.0 for my original iPhone. Faux-GPS used to work great, now the "locate me" icon just spins indefinitely without returning any result.

I suspect that the faux-GPS servers are waiting on some form of authentication from an iPhone registry from Apple, but like many other iPhone-related services, these authentication servers are currently overwhelmed. 100% pure guess though.

Just been into my local Apple store (by the way I'm in the UK). Google Maps thought i was just off the coast of Alaska, whereas down the road in Starbucks it thought I was in a small village in Germany 🙂

Demo'd it to one of the guys in the shop on my phone, a store demo phone & his own phone.... all gave the same result!

Seeing a Genius tomorrow so if I learn anything I'll post here.

Think what i'll learn is "erm, that's not right, think there's a generic fault"

Thanks. However I was stood in the Apple Store using Apple's own Wifi..... perhaps someone at Apple should read it too!

Also doesn't explain the complete failure when not on Wifi

At least it means they know there's a fault though

It must be a UK thing because it's working perfectly fine here in the US :-D
