Ok after making it almost all the way through the 2.0 update I got an unknown error message. After that the iPhone dropped out of the iTunes menu. Now iTunes will not recognize my iPhone and I cannot even turn it off. It literally does nothing. I would restore it but I can't. Any have a similar issue or and adive>

Shortly after posting this I came across a similar post. This actually worked for me I hope if nothing else this comes in handy for someone else.

"What happens when you press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time for 10 - 20 seconds? "

I had a similar problem this morning. After using a couple of the 3rd party apps I locked the phone and that was it, frozen. It would not come on and was not detactable by windows or iTunes. I messed with it for about 2 hours and then out of a PURE FLUKE held down the two buttons hoping to get some type of reset or something. And voila, it worked. After about 10 seconds or so the grey apple in the middle of the screen appeared and the phone booted up.

What was wierd is that the phone got really hot during this time and when I finally got it booted the battery was nearly dead (10%) but when this started it had a fresh charge. So whatever happens during this time kills the battery fast.
