square with dot

Next to the provider name there always was this white square but after the 2.0 update it has now changed in a white square with a dot in the middle

Does anybody have an idea what this means?

Imac, Mac OS X (10.5.1)

I am pretty sure it means that it you are using 2G not 3G at that moment. The change in color seems related to if you are on the home screen or not.

According to the manual, a square with a dot indicates a GPRS network. An E is EDGE, and a 3G is, well, 3G.

I think it's not "home screen" or not, but rather color of the background ... a white square won't show up on a white background, for example, so it switches to a blue square.
