"An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-1426)"

I had a lot of trouble updating my old iPhone to the 2.0 software, but after a number of (heart stopping) attempts, I managed to get my iPhone upgraded to 2.0 and re-activated.

However, upon restoring my iPhone, I got the (less than useful) error:
"An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-1426)"

After I click the (ill-named) "OK" button, the (non)-sync continues and I get the (uninformative) message "The "iPhone my-name's iPhone" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."

It appears that I did recover contacts & calendar, but photos & music aren't being restored.

I did find previous Archived (and locked) discussions that mention a "required file" that relates to iPhoto:

I also had iPhoto crash on me some point today. So, my guess is that there is something definitely wrong with my photos, but I'm not clear on what or what needs to be done to fix/work around this problem.

I tried this a number of times, and I managed to get my photos ONCE, but not my podcasts.

Anybody have a clue about what's going on? (Or why in 2008 Apple is still using error codes and obscure error messages??)

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11), iPhone

I am having the same problem after installing 2.0 on my iphone.

I have not used iphoto today.

I have contacts,SMS,calendar, bookmarks and notes. But no music, photos.

I was able once to have everything and was able to download and install and use new iphone apps. But when I docked my iphone my problem started all over again. It say my sync was interrupted and to start again......

(Solved).

This is why everybody except Apple does BETA TESTING before releasing a product, update, or upgrade. The rule of thumb is: If it hasn't been tested, it is broken.

I'm getting the same error. Here's what Console says:

7/12/08 10:20:38 AM com.apple.usbmuxd[18389] usbmuxd[18389]: ClientUSBDataSent send failed for 0x103fc0, result=0xe00002c0

This happened a couple of times. But the last time, I just decided to *Press Cancel in the "An error occurred" alert.* THAT WORKED (as somebody else noted).

First four hours of iTunes connections yesterday, now this. All for Super Monkey Ball! Was it worth it? Well, yes. Obviously. But still.

I am still get "iTunes was interrupted while restoring........." every time I connect my iPhone to my computer.........

Now my SMS are acting funny. Sometimes when I receives SMS from the same contact. I either receive SMS under contact name or under their phone number. When I receive under phone number, it doubles SMS the same message......

I very disappointed, everything was working great before......

Apple is working overtime... I got a call from tech support and we walked through a few things.

The key things I took away, were:
a. The Contacts are saved on my Address Book Application on my Mac - they aren't going to get lost
b. The Calendar info is saved on my Calendar App on my Mac - they aren't going to get lost
c. The audio (podcasts & Music) are saved as part of iTunes - they aren't going to get lost
d. photos are stored in iPhoto - they aren't going to get lost

So... this time, when the system asked me if I wanted to Cancel, Delete Backup, or Continue backup from a previously interrupted backup, I deleted the backup, which appears to be corrupted in some way which causes the -1426 error. Then I restored from a previous backup from yesterday. So, I didn't lose any of the four groups of info mentioned above.

However, my arrangement of icons was lost and I think I lost a recent note, which is relatively minor. (I do wish notes were accessible from the Mac. This is something the Newton had...)

I hope this explanation is clear. I've been looping through stuff so many times, I might not have relayed my experiences exactly correctly.

Bottom line, I'm a happy camper now.

I had the same problem.

I deleted the back up and restored to the original, oldest restore.

That worked for me.

At your own risk of course. But I would think worst case would be having an updated iPhone that you have to re-load with iTunes data, etc. Better than a brick. No?

When I did the above my iPhone merely began completing the restore and synced all my data. Knock on wood.
