iTunes Error -206... Can't download

I recently upgraded to 7.7, and finally bought the ipod update, but I can't download it! I also can't download anything else for that matter... Itunes just comes up with an error saying "Unable to check for purchases. An unknown error occurred (-206)." Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really want this iPod update! I've already deleted every preference file for iTunes/iPod (as fixed the iTunes 4.5 issue of the same nature), but this did nothing. Please Help!

Alright, maybe this has something to do with it. I tried to buy signal suite and this started happening. Come to think about it, I can buy anything that's only a few dollars (I've bought and downloaded a few apps that weren't free). Also, I've been able to download ToDo, and it was the same $9.99, but I downloaded it before signal suite. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, and nothing works. Please Help!

Signal Suite and the iPod 2.0 update. These are the only two that won't download. I've contacted Apple support and he told me to contact iTunes support (who knew they were separate?) and to report a problem with the download. I have, and am now awaiting a response from iTunes. The apple care guy said that it is an issue with the iTunes store not properly authorizing a purchase and that we as end users probably can't do anything to fix it. Just hang tight everyone; I think this is almost over. I'll let you know my results.

I bought SignalScope off iTunes on my PC, and it didn't appear in my Apps. iTunes keeps telling me to check for purchases, at which point I get the same -206 error.

I also bought Lonely Planet German Phrasebook from the App store on my iPhone, it seemed to download ok but the iPhone crashed and reset during installation. I can't download it again or get the thing to work on my phone. Again I end up checking for purchases and getting the -206 error.

Please fix this or tell us how we're going to get the Apps we paid for!

Go to iTunes support on the web, then send them some emails. That's what I finally did, and actually got to a person. They have to do some things on their side of the store, but when they do, you can finally download your stuff! It seems like it was an issue with the signal suite programs that causes the downloads to back up, but once this is removed from your account, everything works fine. You just have to contact apple to do it.

Hope this helps; this discussion is done.

Well, actually, I've got the same problem. I searched thru the whole apple.com site and couldn't find any help - no phone numbers, no customer service, nothing. If it cannot be found easily, it's no good... anyway, I tried to purchase SignalScope, couldn't proceed with download, instead it says "Unable to check for purchases. An unknown error occurred (-206)."

I want either a refund or that app. Period.

It's quite hard to get customer support nowadays. Perhaps we should vote with our wallets?
