I didn't notice it until tonight (just after having the phone for 7 hours and driving 70 miles back home from the nearest Apple store), but there is definitely a dead pixel in the upper left quadrant of my new iPhone. It's not completely dead, but it's like an inversion of the "should be" color. Will Apple replace this or am I hosed?
15.4" MacBook Pro Core Duo,
Mac OS X (10.5.4),
Glossy Screen
Forgot to mention, but yes, mine also has a very noticeable "warm" coloring...kinda yellow-ish. It was most noticeable driving away from the Apple store in the sunlight.
I got one too. After waiting in line for 5.5 hours and came back home to find out a dead pixel, this totally *****. I think mine might actually be a dust particle inside the screen since I can see it even when the screen is off. I probably would have been okay with it if it were in a corner, but it's right in the middle of the screen >.< I'll take it back today or tomorrow. I hope they will give me a new one.
I'm not sure if it's dust or a stuck pixel. I should say that it doesn't appear to be dead, but it tends to show an inverted color...black instead of red, cyan instead of yellow, etc. black looks normal though. It's so small that I feel bad griping, but I feel like I should do something about it sooner rather than later while it is still new.
Mine is not in a corner, it's right where the second of the first row of icons is...
Going to try to take this back for replacement on Monday or Tuesday. Has anyone had issues with getting replacements? Just hoping Apple doesn't have some sort of queer "Dead Pixel Policy".
Mine has some dead pixels. Some go away and come back .. There just stuck.. I dont want to return unless its gets real real bad.. i really don't notice it.So i wont go exchange it tell it gets bad bad.. LIKE with my first 4 g iPhone i had bad bubbles under the screen. I couldn't handle that.I don't wanna drive all the way to the apple store and get another and it be worse.. LOL
I know what you mean, my first MacBook Pro screen had backlighting issues. For good measure, Apple replaced it with a screen that had several dead pixels. It doesn't bother me much as I mostly use it with an external monitor.
Yea cause sometimes the one they give you are even worse. So ill just stay with this one.. For a while.. And if i gets worse ill go exchange it.BUt for know ill can handle the stuck pixels.LOL
Last night I was going to bed and as I was putting my iPhone to Airplane mode (to reserve bat) I noticed that some light was coming out of the left side of the screen....I dont know how to explain it exactly but it was as if the left corner wasn't sealed at all or maybe it was but not enough.
Look closely on your iPhone in a complete dark and turn up the brightness all the way and see if either side of the screen(where the screen and the bevel meets) looks like it isnt sealed properly. The right one on mine is completely dark I can see light showing through but the left was was bright. You can't see it when its not completely dark but I'm concerned for dust and such to get in.
Going now to the apple store with my iphone 3g with one dead/stuck pixel in the lower middle left part of the screen. Had to make an appointment with the genius bar and I hope they replace my phone with one with out any issues. I understand LCD pixels get stuck and die sometimes but I want to start out with a perfect phone at least. Will post back and on the outcome.
