iPhone phone number region format

I am in Australia and i have a new iphone 3g but have found the telephone number format is all wrong. I have changed all the possible settings to reflect my country however it hasn't changed the format, (e.g. mobile number is 0400 999 000, iphone will display the number as 0400999000 without any spaces) please help...

The iPhone was originally designed for the US market. This is obvious when looking at number formatting as you have pointed out.

If it makes you feel any better, my iPod Touch has always done this as well, and I've contacted support about it more than once (especially since I've got everything set up perfectly in Address Book.app) ... Whatever. Good luck!!
