I asked about "REGISTERING" not Activation!
you register your apple product and tell them the date and time you bought it and put your contact details so if anything happens you can use the warranty easier than usual.
Your iPhone was registered when you activated it. If you go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do and enter you serial number you be able to see your if phone has been registered and when your warranty expires.
I was asked to register as part of my iTunes activation process. Still, I would think that you could do it through the Apple web page too, it the iTunes process didn't work.
My experience a few years ago when I bought one of the then new Ipod Nanos was that is seemed to take a few days to be able to register it since it was a new product. I don't think Apple always has all of the info for a brand new product in their registration system on the day of launch. I'd wait for a few days or a week. Then you should be able to go right in and register.
