I think alot of people are... I've called Apple, and ATT.. no word on it yet, but my hunch is that you have to have the Enterprise data plan for PUSH to work.
Is it could it be a problem with only the first gen iphones? I have a first generation iphone that has been upgraded to the 2.0 software. Also updated iTunes to 7.7 and have the right system pref settings and still can't push email to work over wi-fi or edge.
I have the same problem. Can't get push email, ical, or even contacts. Push is on, and fetch is manually. For this reason, I was wondering to know if fetch affects push in any instance?
Does not push service will work with me.com (MobileMe) for individual accounts?
The problem doesn't seem to be limited to first gen iPhones. There appear to be some inconsistencies with the push functionality in the iPhone 3g, including mine.
So this is something about Apple's system then? I have the 3G, but the service is receiving email when I check for it only, and iCal and Contacts is not syncing at all.
I'm starting to think the MobileMe servers are just being very slow about pushing. I just received push e-mail while connected to wi-fi, and it actually showed up on my iPhone before Gmail Notifier. For clarification on my setup, I have my Gmail account forwarded to MobileMe so I can receive push Gmail on the iPhone, and my outgoing mail server on my iPhone is set to Gmail for consistency.
I have an iPhone (1G) and an iPod Touch, both running firmware 2.0, lying on my coffee table. Both connected to Wi-Fi. Both setup to receive mail/contacts/calendars/bookmarks via push. Only the iPod announces new mail. On the iPhone I have to manually open the Mail app to get new mail. Same with calendars, contacts and bookmarks. I've tried restoring several times, but no luck.
Actually, my push is set for every 15 minutes and used to work like clockwork over Wifi and Edge, however, now after upgrading to 2.0 it is random, sometimes it pushes sometimes it doesn't when on Wifi... I have noticed that when the Wifi signal is low it seems more likely to not push, especially if the phone has lost its signal and gone to Edge, then maybe found the Wifi again and gone back...
I was just searching the boards for another problem, not all my mail pushes... I have it set for Exchange server and my InBox is identical in all places except occasionally an email won't show up on the iPhone... even when it is a reply email... very odd... any ideas??
The other major problem with email is not being able to send when using Wifi... I have to turn Wifi off and send via Edge... something to do with ATT which is ridiculous since the iPhone is exclusively with ATT... was hoping they would fix this with 2.0... if they have let me know!
My issues have been with push on Exchange. I've been reading that subfolders won't update until to open them, but your inbox is supposed to get email immediately and notify. Problem is that my inbox is acting exactly like the subfolders and only updating when I go into mail. Very frustrating as I need to know when I get my work email.
Probably a dumb question...does push only pertain to MobileMe addresses or should it work for any address? I have my work email (I don't have the enterprise data, mind you...but it works from time to time), Gmail account and a MobileMe trial account and it seems I have to manually check it to get any mail. Any tips? Also, my work email only seems to work when Outlook on the computer is closed and I receive a message.
