iTunes Gift Card+ iPhone Games

Probably a dumb question - I've looked but don't see an answer on this one.

Since my credit card is not available, I regularly buy iTunes gift cards and redeem them here to buy songs. Since getting the iPhone I wanted to buy a few games as well but it's not going through. Seems like iTunes store is looking for a credit card. What gives? Any ideas?

It should work. I was able to buy games with a gift card, but I have a CC backing up my account.

Yeah, let us know. If you had song credits I could see them not working for games or videos, but a gift card should work for anything.

Well I spoke with someone in support this morning. She wasn't able to help me fix the problem but through some experimenting I found out something a little useful. I can buy songs using the iTunes Gift Card but not apps. It's simply not working - you can only buy apps if you use your credit card. Doesn't make any sense but there it is. Hope to speak to someone else tomorrow to find out more. Might be a temporary oversight on their part.

I actually read that link I posted, and it says

Now why I was able to get an iPod game deducted from my gift card balance, I don't know. Since I don't have an iPhone, I'm not going to try to buy an app....

Does the gift card have lots of fine print? LOL

As of just recently - you can now use your gift cards to make purchases of apps!!

Which of course I think is just awesome (and long overdue).
