Help with Gmail

Can anyone help? I had gmail on my iphone and I updated to 2.0. I can no longer access my gmail. I deleted the account and tried to reset it and now I get cannot connect using ssl. I have tried restoring my iphone, shutting it down I still can't get my gmail. Can anyone help? PLEASE

Mac, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Go into your gmail account on the computer and go to Settings and then Forwarding and Imap/Pop.

Make sure Imap is enabled, if it is, disable it, wait a few minutes the re-enable it. Then try setting it up on the iPhone.

I tried this but unfortunately it didn't help. Any other ideas?
