Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

How can I tell if I've been hijacked/infected?

Last night I clicked on the link I have put at the end of this post. I'm on a Mac operating 10.5.4. I was using Firefox to open the link. My security settings under Firewall "allow incoming connections" for Firefox.

Something nasty happened. A web browser dialogue opened that seemed to imply some virus software was going to be downloaded. It had OK and cancel buttons, and I clicked cancel, but I think this was a trap. A new window opened. I quit Firefox immediately. I wasn't at all sure that damage was done. This morning I saw that the Console application had been opened (I never open it, so I am fairly certain it was associated with last night's event), and the following record was there of the event. (This link is safe, it just leads to a screenshot of the console readout.)

Can anyone advise me on whether I have anything to worry about, and if so, what I can do to put my mind at rest and/or get rid of the problem?

That site is a con. It makes you believe it is scanning your system for viruses and then says your infected and offers you an anti virus installer to download.

Its a con. It is pc-centric if it is offering you some malware then it is in a .exe format and cant run on a mac. I am unsure why your console opened I don't think that is related.
