While trying to import songs to my iPod I get a windows delayed write failed notification. It reads "Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere". Any ideas how to fix this?

Had chkdsk and delayed write failed error messages also. The latest ipod updater 10-12-2005 did the trick. It did not work with the 9-23-2005 version. I restored my ipod with the 10-12-2005 version and now my ipod works again. Hope it works for you also.
Installed new updater but now unknown error comes up when importing songs to iPod so there is probably something wrong with the iPod itself, thanks for the help though.
hi Dan!
what error message number were you getting with that? (-36)? (-69)? something else?

It reads "Windows was unable to save all the data for >> the file F:. The data has been lost.
I get this error from time to time. It seems to occur for me (sometimes) when i connect my ipod into the Firwire "B" Connector of my external HD with my mp3s on it (Firewire "A" being connected to my PC). Can't access my HD unless i reset windows but ipod is still visible. If this is what's happening to you i wouldn't worry too much. Otherwise, i think there's an option somewhere in windows to disable delayed writing but AFAIK only for hard disks.
Yeah, its that error (-69) thing that comes up.
hi Dan!
usually this is either a corrupt song file or a dodgy connection.
is the synch always cutting out on the same song? if so, if you delete that song file and replace it with a new copy, does the synch go through properly?

It seems to happen when i fill up my iPod with about 1.02 or 1.03 GB of songs then the error comes up, but I will try to delete the song that it freezes on. I appreciate the help.
I tried it again and this time I got the windows delayed write failed message again.
hi Dan!
okay, i'm starting to wonder seriously about your connection now. are you using FireWire or USB 2.0?

I have a USB and a USB 2.0 port, i've tried both but for some reason the USB 2.0 port makes my computer run really slow when the iPod is connected.
This is similar to a topic I participated in some time back, when this problem started with an update to iTunes 4.7. I'm now experiencing this "delayed write" problem again, and the issue for me has nothing to do with USB or Firewire. I'm getting the error when trying to import a CD to a shared network drive over a 54Mbps wireless connection. I can reproduce the error with iTunes 6.0.1.3 100% of the time, with 3 different CDs. Just to make sure it wasn't my network hard drive, I defragmented it and tried to import again, and got exactly the same error. I haven't tried it yet over my 100Mbps wired connection, but I'll do that tomorrow.
My opinion is that something changed in the writing logic for iTunes to make it "faster" and that something is making Windows' buffering unhappy. I actually downgraded to my original iTunes to resolve the problem the first time, and haven't tried Wifi importing since until today.
I hope this information helps somebody!
