Is Microsoft Exchange same as Microsoft Outlook?

I ask this question and get a different response from apple and at&t.... I currently use outlook for my corporate emails via black jack. So, will the IPhone act the same? Meaning can I still use my outlook contacts, email, etc?

Thxs in advance!

"As usual" is hard to define. 🙂

I have my iPhone 2.0 synced with Outlook, which in turn gets its info from an Exchange server. Once I connect Outlook to Exchange and update the info in Outlook, then the next time I sync my iPhone the data is put on the iPhone. Conversely, if I do something on my iPhone (change a contact, or create an email), when I sync it that action is applied to Outlook (contact is update, email is placed in Outbox). Then, when I connect Outlook to Exchange, the change is replicated there (email in outbox gets sent).

NO. If you delete your current office email account from the iPhone (if you have one) and create a new one as a Microsoft Exchange account the iPhone will update immediately any time you receive an email or your calendar or contacts change on the Exchange server or in Outlook. Similarly, any time you send a message from the iPhone, or delete an email, or add, modify or delete a contact or calendar entry from the iPhone that change will appear immediately on the Exchange server and in Outlook the next time you use it. It is not necessary to sync the iPhone via cable to see the changes.
