iPhone 3g and attemping to synch with Outlook 2003 calendar. Worked when I first synch'd on Friday but now won't synch changes made on iPhone3g to PC or changes on PC to iPhone3g ? I've tried the usual recommended stuff - turn off and on iPhone and pc etc. I've reset the sync history, used the 'Replace info on this iphone' etc but still not working.
Any ideas ? I havent tried the next step which was to uninstall iTunes and also try creating a new user on XP.....that seems even worse than "Turn off, turn on" answer....
Just updated to the latest iTunes for pc version 7.7.1...tested with a new appointment entered on my iPhone calendar...synced to Outlook 2003 Calendar...and, voila...the appointment actually appears in the Day/Week/Month View!!!...I hope this is a permanent fix to one of the most annoying bugs ever introduced by Apple...
I just downloaded and installed, it looks like iTune 7.7.1 fixes the USB synching issues with Outlook 2003!!! All calendar items appear to have gone to my phone for the first time since I bought it!!
I just installed 7.7.1, and it seems to fix everything. I had not been able to sync the calendar with my (first generation) iPhone since 11 Jul, but after the update it synced and updated everything from the last few weeks.
As I'd adjusted all the 'unusual' recurring entries in my outlook calendar - I can't really test this. I'm also loathed to revert back to my original .pst file to check that Apple have done it right ! So I'm hoping that you guys are right and this latest version has sorted it.
Do Apple ever detail what the current version is fixing/adding to their iTunes release ?
Amazing that 7600 people have read this since my first post on that Sunday ! More amazing that Apple have commented on the link - even a little "We're aware of the issue and note that 7500 MS users are stuck...and are working on the issue" I am assuming that MS users of the product are in the minority and that Apple owners, who are not affected, are vastly in the majority ? Perhaps this is why they weren't as keen to publish a resoltuion ? Unless, of course, there are other problems they were working on that we havent seen...
Just got the update and it does seem to fix the iphone to calendar sync problems. I put a couple of changes into my iphone and they were updated into Outlook 07. Now, if only they can fix the long back up times I'll be really happy.
I'm using version 1.1.4 on my iPhone. I installed iTunes 7.7.1 and sync'd this morning. It fixed most of my calendar problems: If I create a new calendar event on my iPhone and sync, the event
*does* appear in Outlook. Finally.
However, two problems remain. A minor problem is that entries which were added to the iPhone last week (when the sync bugs existed) still don't appear in Outlook. Not a huge problem, but notable.
Second, a problem that still exists and is more notable. I have a repeating event with an end date that I created in Outlook. Each of these events has a unique comment in the Note field. When I sync, the appointments do end up on my iPhone, but without any Notes. Bummer.
I'm a software developer and have accidently released software with problems, but it difficult for me to imagine how Apple could have such significant problems and remained silent as they were trying to fix them.
I know this issue has been discussed to death, but I was able to get my calendar sync functioning again. I was prudent in not upgrading my V1 iPhone to 2.0. I did upgrade iTunes ensuring I was ready. My first indication that something was wrong was that my HD had 20GB less space then a day ago. When I researched it, I saw that the ..\SyncServices directory had logs were between 1GB and 4GB. That's when I realized I wasn't getting my calendar either.
Long story short, I went back to the previous version of iTunes and everything is working great. I use two PC's for syncing. One Vista PC for music and a XP Pro PC for Calendar/Contacts. The Vista PC is on the latest iTunes version.
I think I'm sticking with this configuration until Apple gets this worked out. Hopefully this is helpful to others as there is a lot of speculation about this being w/ the 2.0 update. I've never done anything w/ the 2.0 update and have had this issue. In my opinion, it's a LOT more important to have my calendar than to have the Apps Store.
I can also confirm that the new itune updates fixes my sync problem with outlook 2003 and the iphone's calendar.
My problem was past notified events were being erased from my Outlook 2003 month view calendar, the iTune updates fixed that. (did 2 different time synching and both works well).
See the "bugles" at the head of this list. One of them talks about resetting your iPhone. You have to go to your iPhone settings and turn sync on and off. Hope that helps?
I envy those of you for whom the new iTunes did the trick. In my case, it made things worse. In addition to the calendar not synching (stuff I enter on my iPhone doesn't show up in Outlook when I "synch") but now the same thing is happening with the Contacts.
PLUS, I have no room on my iPhone for anything but a few pix (which take up a tiny portion of the capacity) and "other." There is no audio on the phone; there's no rooms. What is up with that?
I just installed iTunes 7.7.1.11 this morning. SO FAR everything seems to be okay. I have not had a chance yet to explore everything. I will do that throughout the course of the day. But, like I said SO FAR, I'm pleased. It's about time!
Did what Applebruce posted and it worked. I have double and triple checked the syncing from mobile me, to outlook on my office PC and the imac at home and my iphone and everything seems to be working. Thank you for this solution.
I think that companies like Apple have grown way too dependant on smart people like bruce to solve their problems. They need to get off their butts and test this software thoroughly and then fix it themselves when it goes all buggy like this. This entire experience has been a complete disaster and with the exception of providing this forum, Apple has done absolutely nothing to resolve this.
