how do you create a ringtone for iPhone that's not purchased?

I didn't read through the forums to find an answer to my question.

I read somewhere it said to convert the m4a files to m4r files and it would create a ringtone for the iPhone.

But I just saw on the apple site this:

The following audio file formats are supported by iPhone. These include formats for audiobooks and podcasting:

AAC (M4A, M4B, M4P, up to 320 Kbps)
Apple Lossless (a high-quality compressed format)
MP3 (up to 320 Kbps)
MP3 Variable Bit Rate (VBR)
WAV
AA (audible.com spoken word, formats 2, 3, and 4)
AAX (audible.com spoken word, AudibleEnhanced format)
AIFF

So if it doesn't support m4r files, how do you convert songs in iTunes (that I have not purchased, but on my cds) for a ringtone? Would you have to buy iToner or RingtoneStudio? Can anyone please help with this.

THANKS ahead of time for anyone who can help.

Try myxer.com. You can search for different songs that other users have turned into ringtones. They also have wallpapers, games, and videos. There's even a special iPhone feature that downloads your ringtone to your computer, so you can simply drag and drop it into your iTunes ringtone folder. The next time you connect your phone, the ringtones will automatically download and show up as a ringtone choice. And best of all, it's all free!

I found a site it's called audiko.net it will let you look up songs in their library or you can cut a song from your own music files up to 40 seconds. Then it will cut it and change the format for you and send it directly to your itune ringtones tab and you can sync it and put it as a tone for all contacts or select one for each. I have 50 already and its extremely easy and free.
