I am currently vacationing on the Canadian border, in the US. My brother who has at&t, but not the iPhone has no problem picking up the at&t towers, but my iPhone keeps switching to rogers. Is there any way to force my phone to only use at&t?? I'd rather have 1 bar or even none than accidentally getting roaming charges. Thanks for your help!!
try settings, general, network and touch att putting a check mark on it. it is by defult automatic so it finds the strongest signal. mexico and canada have cheap roaming rates because of the border overlap.
Don't think it can be done. As said above it picks up the strongest signal which may not be AT&T. Sounds like you have to roam. Or try setting the network to manual and select AT&T. If you can't see it that means AT&T and not available. But go to settings and Carrier under the wifi .
I don't have the option to select carrier, when I go into Network, the only options I have are Data Roaming, which is off, VPN, and Wi-Fi... No carrier option.
After reading the manual again, I see that the option to select carrier will only appear when more than one is available, so now that I'm inland a ways, I guess I can't select AT&T, because it doesn't see Rogers? Anyways, thank you everyone for your inputs. I think I'm going to jut call AT&T and give them the head's up that I will be forwarding the bill to them for any roaming charges I receive.
