Adding an icon to iphone app

I've tried the desktop app solution which is to create an icon in icon composer, then add it the project, the go to the info.plist file and set the Icon File name to the name of the icon ("APPL" is the name, I even followed the online tutorial for desktop icons directly). Yet, when I boot up the simulator, no icon appears. I've cleared the build and everything. Any help would be much appreciated.
