The techs don't know any of that!!!! That is standard call center speak.

Apple doesn't tell anyone, including ATT, what they will and what they will not include in future updates. There is no Tech anywhere, Apple or ATT who knows what future updates may or may not include. The techs find out at the same time you find out, when it is added.

I wouldn't hold my breath for any kind of change to things that have already been out for more than a year and Apple has chosen not to change.

Those Techs who DO release any kind of insider information are subject to being fired by Apple. ATT reps can say whatever they want, but would be the last to know of any changes.

Of course, we would all like these types of changes, but you absolutely can not believe anything a Tech tells you they think will be in the next update. They do not know.

    This is nonsense.

i got myself the jabra bt8010 set, it's stereo but can be used as single, about $21. Just tried it today with voicemail, it works.

Just downloaded the 2.1 update for my 3G and still have no audio option for voicemail, only the speaker button. Maybe Apple will indeed correct this problem in a future firmware update. I'm new to iPhone and am fairly pleased with things overall, but this really is a bit of a nuisance. Hope they see fit to deal with this soon. My Plantronics 520 is a decent headset and while I'm not adverse to updating to something new, I shouldn't be forced to when the issue can be dealt with via a simple update.

For some reason, the Plantronics Discovery 925 does not work with iPhone's visual voicemail but the 610 model works just fine.

Great news!!!!! Update 2.0.1 just came out!!!!! Bad news, no fix for this seriously needed option. Especially in Los Angeles where we have hands free laws now.

Maybe we can PURCHASE IT on the Iphone Apps page some time soon.

My Motorola H700 works fine with voicemail on my iPhone 3G with 2.0.1. I never checked it with 2.0, so I don't know if this is something that was fixed with the 2.0.1 update. The problem I have with the Motorola H700 is that whenever I try to make a call, the phone rings through the headset, but then as soon as the other person answers, the phone switches itself over to it's internal speaker and then back to the headset. It usually takes several seconds after the other person picks up before I get audio through the headset. Very annoying. I don't have this problem when using the iPhone with my Acura TL HandsFreeLink.

For this reason, I've been looking to pick up a Plantronics Discovery 925 or Voyager 520, which seem to have very favorable ratings, except of course now I'm finding out from you guys that they don't work with voicemail. Arrrrgh!

Hey there. It's not just 925, but others as well. I am almost certain that with the next major update, we well see this option fixed.
  • KingOfHuns Level 1 Level 1
I know it's not just the 925, but I'm not about to plunk down $150 for a 925 until I know Apple has fixed this problem. You may be almost certain that they'll fix it in the next major update, but I am not. I bought a new MacBook Pro last November and I have been living with a keyboard issue where occasionally the first key I press does not register on the computer. For example, I may start typing "hello", but will see "ello" on the screen. Despite numerous firmware and OS updates that were supposed to fix this issue, it still happens to me from time to time. So like I said, I'm not so sure...

And before someone calls me an Apple basher, I'm a long time Mac user and a huge fan of Apple's and I've converted many of my coworkers and friends over to the Mac. But one of my friends who I convinced to switch is suffering from this same keyboard issue, and it's kind of embarrassing that Apple can't fix this silly little problem after I touted their superiority to my friend.

    OK, I'm done ranting. Sorry.

Are you kidding me? I have had a problem with the "missing first letter of a word" scenario and was told that is was operator error!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus, I have to restart my macbook pro at least twice a day because it slows down considerably and poorly plays back flash movies, particularly, YouTube videos.

I've reinstalled the system software twice and was told that I have a piece of 3rd party software that is causing my machine to crawl.

I too, am a long time Mac user and converter of PC Users about to become a basher of Apple.

    This is outrageous.

So can anyone verify whether the 2.0.2 update fixes this problem with the Plantronics 925?
  • NR2D Level 1 Level 1
I will try my 925 when I get home. i do know Visual Voicemail doesn't work with the Bluetooth system in my car, '08 Infiniti G35X. I did send a note about this to Apple via their feedback site.

I have the same BlueAnt Z9i headset and am experiencing the same dilemma. With my original 16GB iPhone, I could listen to visual voicemail through it without a problem...when I upgraded that phone to 2.0, I lost the feature (and, yes, it was properly paired). So, I waited a few weeks after 3G came out, then upgraded to it...but, to no avail, it still left me without the long-desired feature. Likewise, after the 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 update as well...WAY TO GO APPLE! I am in the technology business and thought I had the coolest, tech-savvy smart phone on the block, but, no, I get to unclip my phone in the presence of people that are looking at me like an idiot with a bluetooth on one side of my noggin and the "most desired phone in the market" on the other...all so I can listen to my voicemail. And, speaking of safety concerns, is it REALLY that much safer to have to unholster the phone driving down the highway, have to look at the screen, press the icon, then either take off my bluetooth with the same hand or try to hold it up to my other ear and switch driving hands so I can listen to my voicemail? I have to say, I do like Apple's products, but this is a seriously stupid oversight...why wouldn't they leave the feature in place until their "workaround" was made available? Anyway, that's my 2-pennies...

Did you have a previous original iPhone? Well, I did and I would love for that "Genius" to tell me to upgrade my headset after it already worked with the previous model (before updating to 2.0) and the simple fact that now you want me to plunk down another +$100 US after buying a second phone because of something APPLE did wrong!?!?! YEAH, right. They just need to fix the problem, plain and simple. Great phone otherwise, the best I've had among at five other "smart phones".

That is correct. Voicemail with Plantronics is still broken in 2.0.2. It worked fine in 1.1.4. It works fine with a Jawbone, and the apple BT headset, but not plantronics (and I assume many others based upon the whine level).
