Does Restoring the Ipod delete all the music and such?...

If the library only exists on your iPod and not in your iTunes library on your computer, you will need third-party software to copy the library from the iPod (and that's if you can access prior to doing the restore). Search the forum under Zevoneer as the poster and put the word "Senuti" in the search field. You should find his very detailed post on how to do this. Yes. Since you don't say what computer OS you have, try Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.

It has both Mac and Windows versions.

Restoring the iPod completely erases it's contents and reloads the iPod software.

After that, it's simple enough to reload the content back onto your iPod from your iTunes library.
