rod, i may be having the same problem. About a month ago every second song on a CD i ripped only took a tiny bit of information - about 800kb, and then moved onto the next. I then have to re-insert the disc, select every second song and drag them across, and then it works...... i've checked all my settings and have no idea what to do.... Is this similar to your problem?

Rod,

Can you get the information about the drive for me? Right click on "My Computer", select Properties, select the Hardware tab, select the "Device Manager" button. In the window that comes up, find the entry "DVD/CD ROM drives", click on the "+" sign next to it to expand it. For each drive on the list, right click and select Properties. Then go to the last Details tab and give me the line of information it gives you about the drive.

I have this exact same problem... so far I have found that turning on the error correction option in iTunes helps... as does changing CD drives... as does repeatedly trying to import the same song over and over again... eventually it will import fully.

However all of these are really inelegant solutions... I never had these problems with Windows Media Player!

Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
