How do you delete the Google search box drop down menu history?

Hello,
I would like to delete the contents of the history menu which appears when you starting tapping-in a word in to the search bar in Google. Reseting Safari, turning on private browsing or, in Preferences setting 'Removing history items' to 1 day or Manual seems to make no difference. Google help says your chosen browser holds this menu history and shows how to remove it in Explorer and Mozillla Firefox but no other browsers. I cannot find the information I need in Safari Help. Any help appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for suggestion. I use the Google Classic home page and use the search box in the middle of the page, which has the offending drop down history menu. This does not have a magnifier to the left of the of the word Google. On the top right of the Google home page in the menu bar there is a small search window with a Magnifier icon. If I click on the icon it says 'no recent searches'. Resetting Safari probably deleted this menu's history. I seem to be able to remove histories from other search windows but not the main search box in the middle. This is the window which, not only I but other people use.
Thanks

Then you are viewing a Web page and not using the data stored on your machine.
You would need to delete the "cookies" sent during your visit. My suggestion was for the Safari Address bar portion that holds Google searches in a different location.
You can delete cookie files by opening the Safari preferences and clicking on the "Security" tab.
To remove more than one at a time hold down the Shift key as you highlight from continuous files. Use the Command key to highlight non contiguous items and then hit the "remove" icon at the bottom of that window.

Hi, yes I have relaunched and even restarted the computer but to no avail. Before posting this discussion question I tried to find the answer in Google help but without success. You can inform support of a problem but they do not reply directly to queries. They just use the query to 'improve their services'. At present I cannot find Google discussion forums. Many thanks for your help.
