Does anyone know how to turn off assisted-GPS, so it use satellite GPS only?

Yes, I know that. But I don't believe that the OP does - which is why I posed the question. Assisted-GPS does use satellite GPS, but uses cell/WiFi to speed up the time to first fix, and to establish a location based on two visible satellites (instead of the normally required 3 satellites). I can't think of any reason one would want to deactivate the "assistance." in any case, it's not possible to do that on the iPhone.

A-GPS is about getting assistance information on what satellites are in view, and their orbits, and/or help with calculations and accounting for atmospheric and local conditions.
Cell id and WiFi have nothing to do with A-GPS. They can be used as aids in locating, however.
AGPS can also deal with propagation and refraction delays caused by the atmosphere, and multipath reflections in cities.
DGPS, intended to correct the same kind of errors, is a different (and unidirectional) method of assistance mainly intended for maritime, non-cellular, devices. And of course WAAS is an extension for aerial navigation.

Not normally an option, but if you put it into airplane mode then it can not use assisted gps.

The map software on the iPhone can not perform a route calculation when it's in airplane mode. It will ask for airplane mode to be switched off or using wi-fi. Any ideas?
If that doesn't work, then there is probably no way of doing it other than being out of a cell service area and not any where near a wi-fi hot spot.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to switch off assisted GPS? (Trying to ascertain if you understand the difference between A-GPS and GPS.)
Satellite only GPS would take several minutes for you to be located, and it might not be that accurate of a reading. Stick with the A-GPS..
I know you know, I just happen to hit your reply button..
Oh, ok 🙂
Had a little more time with the last post, so I thought I'd flesh out the answer for the OP in any case...

Please explain how atmospheric and local conditions affect GPS. Are you confusing A-GPS with DGPS?
