Interference when listening to headphones

I'm getting lots of cell-polling interference when listening to headphones. It sounds like morse-code (it's the phone checking in with the system). This was never a problem with my original iPhone. Anyone else getting this?

MacBook Pro / iPhone, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

No, not necessarily.

Noise canceling headphones measure ambient noise and insert a negative (180 degrees out of phase) copy of that sound into the phone to cancel the noise.

That has nothing to do with radio noise that is triggering the speakers directly.
(Just like when you set the iphone near your computer speakers when the phone is talking on Edge.).

The ambient sound pickup of the headphones won't hear radio induced speaker chatter at all. Its listening OUTSIDE, not inside the phones.

(For the record, my Bose noise canceling phones never pick up any radio chatter, even when the phone held right next to them and the computer speakers are chattering like crazy).

So I'm guessing poorly designed 3rd party phones are to blame.

I think if you can not hear this noise with the Apple earbuds, you have no cause for complaint.
