My iPhone 3G has a zit

I bought a white iPhone 3G last Friday. As soon as I got home, I took it out of the box to bond with my new wonderful gadget from Apple. However, I noticed immediately on the back of the phone, just below the chrome Apple logo, there was a rather ugly "zit" in the plastic. It's not a scratch or smudge. Rather, it's more like a bubble, bump, or a piece of debris that's actually in or beneath the surface of the plastic. In fact, it has a tiny black dot in the center of this blemish.

I've shown off my phone to several coworkers and friends, and they all turn it over to look at it from every angle because it is a thing of beauty. Funny enough though, I've seen several people try to wipe off this mark, so it's not just me who's noticed it.

I'm wondering what my chances are of getting this replaced from Apple. It in no way affects the functionality of the phone, but it is dissapointing to have spent so long in line, to buy the coolest of the coolest gadget on the planet to have it come with a zit!

I also noticed something similar on mine. However, it is very small and I wouldn't have noticed it if I had not read this thread.

However, I will try to get it changed since I only got it today. In Hong Kong when I got the iphone the store told me before they unsealed the box that once the box is opened I can't return the phone. I will try to see if they can do something regarding this case.

Hoping for the best. For now I have a silicon cover for the back and the sides.

Here's a tiny piece of [unsolicited] advice.

I've had lots of things that had extremely minor physical imperfections (in fact the last was a Nokia factory-unlocked phone.) I took it back to get one that was physically perfect.

The flip side was that the replaced one has been nothing but trouble - a full on lemon - but by the time the ugliness inside reared it's lovely head I was in another country (two days later.)

So yup, mine (iPhone 3G) has a tiny "zit" (great way to put it BTW) in the plastic. There's one other very very minor manufacturing issue that I noticed. Neither of these two issues were noticed by anyone else.

The phone on the other hand works great, and doesn't have any other issues - while I could probably take it back, but I'd rather not chance getting one that looks great but has a lot of internal "issues."

That being said, I fully understand wanting things to be perfect - it's just that they rarely are. After being burned a few times (like the above example), I'll stick with devils I can see.

My 2c. Take it, leave it, or give it to someone else.
