Iphone Apps Not Transferring To Itunes

hey guys,
did a search first!

ok so on my iphone 3g, i installed some apps to it through itunes.
works great.

i then downloaded some apps through the iphone, such as super monkey ball, bomberman, poker, etc.

but when i sync my phone it doesnt sync the apps back to itunes.
it doesnt ask me or anything.

i tried restoring, and what annoys me is that i had to purchase the apps again after the restore.

has anyone got a solution please?

also, showtime crashes, no matter how many times i reinstall it!

thanks.

I had the same problem, although for me, some apps. that I downloaded early on DID sync. But at some point, it stopped working. I have had a few crashes on the phone from running buggy apps., and I had to reinstall some of them to get ANY downloaded app. to launch. So maybe that had something to do with it?
In any case that menu item in iTunes got the sync to work, so thanks for that. Maybe from now on it'll work automatically (fingers crossed).

Just so we're clear.

1) Connect your iPhone to iTunes.
2) iTunes: Under Devices select your iPhone by highlighting.
3) iTunes: GoTo - File > Transfer Purchases from (Your iPhone Name).
4) iTunes: Select Applications Tab (iPhone still highlighted)
5) Verify that all your iPhone apps have been added, if not repeat steps 2 & 3.
6) iTunes: Now under Library > Applications you can see the icons for each one of your apps.
7) iTunes: Delete any app you choose by right-click, delete and sync with iPhone.

I had to repeat steps 2 & 3 twice.

And me too. Exactly.

My first 7 or 8 apps synced to iTunes no problem. I was also experiencing a lot of issues, so I restored the phone. Stability seemed restored. But the 5 or 6 apps that I’ve installed since then do NOT appear in iTunes. I am now going to try the manual fix suggested above ...

Yep, perfect, it’s transferring my recent App store purchases right now. Hoo, boy, I had more of them than I thought! Yay, they are all there in iTunes now.

Boy, they sure hid that option, though, eh? There are about five places where a button for that would make more sense! Sheesh. And where’s the automatic syncing? What the **** is so hard about syncing? Does anything that syncs actually work properly? Gah.

You can turn automatic syncing on/off by going to the main iphone screen in iTunes. It's the first checkbox item in the Options section: "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected"

Kinda crappy that purchases don't transfer automatically. I purchased an app on my iPhone, something happened during a sync and my custom iPhone name reverted to 'iPhone', now the app is missing from my iPhone, and never transferred to iTunes. Now I have a request in to the iTunes Store to get another download link for the app.

No way not transferring purchases should be the default. AppleTV automatically transfers purchases to a 'Purchased on AppleTV' playlist.

I spent all evening trying to figure this one out... thought I would share what I came up with. I just moved from an original iPhone to a new 3G and discovered all of my apps hadn't transferred over to the new phone. Thus I found out you had to transfer the apps to iTunes then you'd have a backup.

I had a dim memory of being asked if iTunes wanted to transfer things from my iPhone to iTunes and I had said "don't transfer" and also checked the "Do not ask me again" box. But for the life of me I couldn't find where to get that option unchecked since it never asked me again.

I stumbled up this: RIGHT click (or control-click) on your iphone's icon under the device list in the left column in iTunes and select "Reset Warnings." The next time I synced my iPhone it brought up the windows and asked me again if I wanted to transfer my purchases and this time I said "Transfer". Worked like a charm.

Hope this helps everyone.
