How can I play/watch ASF Files on my iPhone 2?

Hello,
how can I play/watch ASF files on my iPhone2? I receive via the ASF files via e-mail into my iPhone 2 and I would not want to convert the files on the PC/Mac.

ASF isn't supported. The following video file formats are supported by iPhone:
- H.264 (Baseline Profile Level 3.0)
- MPEG-4 (Simple Profile)

Thanks for the info. But is there any software or tool which would allow me to watch an ASF file directly on the iPhone?

No. The codec is not installed in the iPhone OS.

I am not sure if this will work but if you add the ASF file into your iTunes movie library and right click on the file and select "convert to iphone format" (or something along those lines) it might be able to convert it.

Just a guess though

Thanks for that.
I tried to do something with the ASF file attachement on the iPhone, but the file icon is shown as a graphic and nothing further with the attachment can be done. It appears as if iPhone would not allow you to do something with an attachment where the format of the file is not known to the iPhone.
Is there any other software I could download to the iPhone to make this work or am I stuck? Thanks for your help.

In short. Nope. ASF is old formatting for video. Get the email sent to your computer but from there you'll have to convert with a third party app, iTunes won't convert ASF.

.asf is a Microsoft proprietary format for streaming content, whether it is audio, video or whatever.

You can use a video convert software to convert ASF file to mp4 that be played on iPhone 2.I use Mpeg4 converter,you can try it.

Playing a static .asf file doesn't work yet, but ooTunes will let you listen to a live .asf stream on your iphone. It does the transcoding on the server side and streams it to your iphone. It costs $20 (but does a ton more).
