Can I Return My iPhone 3G to Rebuy at a Future Date?

I made a mistake in buying my iPhone 3G so soon and I can not afford it. I have activated it already, I would like to return it to the Apple Store I bought it from but I would like to rebuy the iPhone 3G in about a month when I will be getting some extra cash. Would my best option to be sell it on eBay (not doing it to profit just straight $300 for the 16 GB) or can I return it to Apple but maintain my contract and number (and maybe reactivate my original old iPhone) for a future iphone 3G purchase?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

You can return the phone (though you'll have to pay a restocking fee). Look on your receipt. I bought mine on the first day (July 11). The Return Date is listed as July 25.

You have 14 days to return. ATT gives you one week to cancel their service, so if you are going to return, do it now.

No. But Apple won't be able to reactivate your old iPhone. YOu will have to return your iPhone, and then go to ATT to reactivate your old iPhone.

Hmm I thought I would just be able to connect my old iPhone to iTunes and reactivate it. No?

i don't know about the Apple Store, but AT&T gives 30 days to return/exchange with a 10% restocking fee for Apple products.

you can sell your old iphone for 200-300 on ebay, why not just sell it instead of your new one.
