Unable to access itunes store

I have got my new 3G phone and downloaded itunes updated software, but unable to access itunes store. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the software at least 20 times. anyone out there got a fix for this. PLEASE

Dell dimension 9100, Windows XP

I gave in today and got bored of the useless apple support so I rebooted my computer to its factory settings - I backed up up all my items and its worked since - but couldn't apple sort this out I mean nothing was wrong with my computer! (Excuse any spelling mistakes - I am only 12 using my dads account!)

Skiff, I just wanted to thank you so much for helping me figure out the problem of the disappearing itunes connection. I loaded the new itunes 7.7 late last night. Imagine my surprise, when I brought things up and I was getting messages that itunes could not connect to the internet. The Apple tech site was no help and I was in a desperate panic! Thank goodness, I ran across your posting. I would have never have guessed, that my Norton firewall had somehow been reconfigured by the download. After reading your instructions and doing some fenagling with the Norton, things seem back to normal. Have not downloaded any music yet. Hopefully, that has not been affected. Once again thanks for the help!

iTunes 7.7 is nothing but problems. The easiest and quickest fix is to do a restore back to an earlier date and it worked!! Wish I had done this before wasting hours following useless directions.

Restore is easy, go to accessories, system tools and restore.

I lost no information or documents and it simple reset my iTunes to the 7.6 version.

Because apparently it's a problem with all security. I have Kaspersky and it responds the same way. I cannot get in but I did notice (I'm using version 8 which trashed the store last night)that Kaspersky allows me into only a specific Apple server 224.0.0.251 so I'm wondering if they've changed the site address (server number).

Would appreciate help.

...and to the person that suggests throwing out my $1500 laptop to buy a $3000 comparable Apple? If you're going to create software for the competition, it should work as well as it purportedly does for the Apple!
