Safari for Linux

Since Konqueror and Safari are based on similar libraries (Safari is KHTML-based with extensive use of Cocoa)...

I wonder if Apple will ever get around to recompiling the MacOSX version so that it will run on Linux as a closed-source binary?

I happen to love Safari's internal font rendering software, but I hate the fact that if I want to use it on Linux... grr... have to launch VMware to do it.

Anybody know anything?

It's not going to happen; you need to get a Mac if you want Safari.

Hi,

As mentioned, I think it's unlikely Apple will release Safari on Linux, but there have been efforts by others to use WebKit (the underlying rendering engine used by Safari) on Linux.

Epiphany appear to have a build of their browser using WebKit:

Maybe they don't feel it's important enough considering Konqueror using the similar engine KHTML and the Epiphany changing to Webkit.

How much Apple software is available for Linux anyway?
