major issues, home button and shutting down.

So it started with my contacts and calendar being wiped clean (I have MobileMe) then I noticed the home button was no longer working--I was stuck in the phone function. I am still stuck in the phone app, when I try to shut the phone down--all I can do is put the phone to sleep. I am at work so I have not been able to reset the phone. Hopefully this will work. If not I guess I will head back to the apple store. Anyone else haveing similar issues? Anything you did that helped?
