Shortcuts, tricks and tips!

Do you know of any shortcuts, tricks or tips that might not be common knowledge? Maybe you've discovered something we might not all know about. Let's share these with each other. I learned from someone here today that you can hold down the "home key" and touch the power button for a second and you will get a "screen shot" that you can paste into an email. Or hold your finger on a picture in Safari or an email for three seconds and it will give you an option to make a copy, which will be stored with your "camera roll" under your Photos. Anybody have any other tips?

Before 2.0, in Safari only you could tap the top (title bar area) to scroll back to the top fast. Now works in most apps (like Contact list for one).

Also one many didn't know about before, if on a website with lets say frames, if you just tap and scroll it scrolled the whole screen. But if you have a frame (or iFrame) and want to just scroll that one area while keeping rest still, use two fingers (like index and middle) and tap and scroll with them both. That will just scroll a single frame (was handy in Beejive for those that used that webapp).

Here's one that most people don't know about. When typing on any program or application, internet, anyting at all, you can HOLD DOWN the key that switches to numbers and symbols, KEEP HOLDING, even while selecting a number or symbol, SELECT IT, then simply let go. THe number or symbol will be inserted, and you will automatically be sent back to the letters keyboard, instead of having to go back to the lower left part of the screen to type the letters symbol

My tip: Double-tap the home button to take you to your phone favorites for quick access.

From owner's manual, page 107 - Chapter 8

Home Button
Choose General > Home Button to set preferences for double-clicking the Home
button. You can set iPhone so that double-clicking the Home button goes to either to the Home screen, Phone Favorites, or the iPod screen.

SCREEN CAPTURE: To take a picture of what ever is on your screen, hold down the home button - then press the sleep button. The screen will flash and place the images in "photos". Cool!

From owner's manual, page 80 - Chapter 7

Take a screenshot of iPhone’s display: Quickly press and release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. A flash of the screen lets you know the screenshot was taken. The screenshot is added to the Camera Roll.

From owner's manual, page 27 - Chapter 2

1. Type uppercase: Tap the Shift key before tapping a letter.
2. Quickly type a period and space: Double-tap the space bar.
3. Turn caps lock on: Enable caps lock (see “Keyboard” section), then double-tap the Shift key. The Shift key turns blue, and all letters you type are uppercase. Tap the Shift key again to turn caps lock off.
4. Show numbers, punctuation, or symbols: Tap the Number (?123) key. Tap the Symbol key to see additional punctuation and symbols.
5. Type letters or symbols that aren’t on the keyboard: Press and hold the related letter or symbol, then slide to choose a variation.
