iPhone & UMA

Several providers in the UK - including O2 provide access through broadband connectivity for mobiles. I was using a blackberry and it work a dream as for instance at work the mobile signal is almost none existant. There was no set up required it just 'worked' when connected through Wifi. It doesnt seem to be working with the iPhone - anyone know why or ?
