It works for me and my HP Deskjet 970 cxi perfectly, when the printer is connected directly (via USB) to my PowerBook.

I run into a problem when I print over my Airport network using this printer connected to and *shared from an eMac with Mac OS X 10.4.11*. Then the *double face option is greyed out*, and I can't activate it.

It seems the older HP driver 2.7.1 running on my eMac does not communicate about this detail with the newer HP driver on my PowerBook running Leopard (10.5.4).

Version 1.0 popped right up in Software Update, but not 1.1, I have the printer installs and everything that product info says for Apple Update to find and act. I have issues since installing the 1.0, no HP options in the Print Window. HP calls me every Saturday and we talk about what has happened over the past week and they said nothing of an update coming out. They rarely say anything, but just listen. I hope like 1.0 it only installs what I need, but I did start to run it and it said it needed 1GB of space. Who needs 1GB of printer drivers. Like 1.0, I hope it looks and only installs what I need. Otherwise, it's a driver hunt to kill off all the other drivers I don't need. And watch, it won't solve my problems.

Oh,well. Have been getting use to that from Software Updates lately.

I installed the update on my iMac (Intel) that is connected to an HP LaserJet 1022. Immediately, I noticed that the printer's icon on the dock changed to a generic printer icon and the printer's driver had been switched to the "HP LaserJet 1022 - CUPS + Gutenprint 5.2-beta3" driver. When I tried to switch back to the HP version of the printer's driver, it was no longer included in the printer model list.

Using Pacifist, I was able to confirm that the "HP Printer Update 1.1" package does contain the components of the 1022 driver, but they do not seem to be installed correctly.

Reinstalling the "hp LaserJet 1020 Series.pkg" from the HP Support website does seem to correct the problem.

My network-based HP Photosmart C7280 printer continues to operate properly after installing the update. However, the printer's icon in the dock now appears with a question mark, but clicking on the icon will open the proper print queue.

As I mentioned earlier I also have a HP 1022 that is working just fine with the HP driver update. My 1022 driver is listed as 1.3.0501, not the 1.2 version on HP's site. So it appears to me that the new drivers were installed correctly and my system is living proof.

The workaround that I discovered was to replace a couple of the files which are updated by HP Printer Driver 1.1 with my previous versions (which are version 4.0.0 despite having the same creation date as the newer versions? 4.4.0 I think) from time machine/a backup. Namely:

MacintoshHD/library/printers/hp/filter/hpPostProcessing.bundle
and
MacintoshHD/library/printers/hp/PDEs/hpPostScriptPDE.plugin

Printing then worked again (networked connection using appletalk) without becoming 'stopped' every time I tried to print something. Incidentally, as I had a backup I didn't have to resort to this, but it may be able to find these files in a previous 10.5.X update and extract them with Pacifist?

I am trying to set up a printer on my Time Machine, HP Photosmart 245, and my macbook finds it OK but when I look for the drivers there is not one for the 240 series. I have tried downloading everything but I cannot find the driver. How do you get the driver added to the list in the printer setup screen? The downloads say the driver should be there, but it doesn't appear.
