Pages will not let me add a bookmark

I am trying to add a bookmark in a Pages 2008 document. I followed the directions to the letter: I selected the text, went to the Link Inspector, clicked on the Bookmark tab ... but the "+" (add) button is always grayed out. Does anyone have any idea what's going on. I may be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what it might be.

Any help or suggestions anyone might have would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Bookmarks and links to these bookmarks can only be made in the Word Processing format, not the Page Layout format of Pages. So bookmarking works withing the Word Processing templates of Pages. Follow the same procedure you have been, but with a Work Precessing page, and it should work out.

I don't if it can be done with a Page Layout page.
