PLEASE help anyone who knows anything about Windows Media Player

I am trying to play wmv files on my mac but I Get error "the specified stream type is not recognized"
I have downloaded windows media 9 and used "stuffit expander" to install it... can anyone help me... why won't these files play... I have also tried flip4mac but got frustrated when it took 10 minutes to open a video file... please help

IMAC 20" 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.5.4)

If the person is trying to send you DRM video, that won't open on the Mac unless you have a virtualization solution. Also chances are it won't be legal for you to open it on another computer than their own, unless they are willing to transfer the license to you for that video.

If they are sending you a newer type of video than WMP can handle, try Flip4Mac. And if Flip4Mac doesn't work you'll probably need to install Windows on your Mac to play it. Ask them the source they are sending you.
