Does anyone know how to downgrade an original iPhone with version 2.0 software back to 1.4 or earlier? I've upgraded to v.2.0 and i'm experiencing too many problems and slow operation with the new operating system, so hence my reason for wanting to revert to 1.4
I know what you mean, my contacts menu is particularly slow and jumpy compared to the old system. It would be interesting to hear if we have an isolated problem...
Try using the restore file ending in .ipsw that is for 114 software version. Click shift + restore button in iTunes and it should prompt you to use whatever restore you want.
You're not the only ones with this problem. I think that the vast majority that went through the 2.0 fiasco are suffering the sam types of problems or worse. We just have to hope Apple pushes a patch or new update soon. In the meantime you can try rebooting your phone. Hold home key and lock key down until the apple logo comes on.
you have to remove itunes and the apple mobiledevice from your mac/pc and install itunes 7.5 (don't forget to restart your computer) - afterwards just push on restore and it will install 1.4
