Errors 1722 then 1603 on installation

HI there ive been trying to fix this problem for over a month now. I am having problems with the quicktime installation with itunes. I have downloaded off the website, off my ipod cd, and tried the quiicktime standalone and they all have had errors. When downloading quicktime it gets hung on "Updating Environment Strings" and then i get the error 1722 and then 1603..everytime...i get different errors when off my ipod cd, itunes installs and quicktime doesnt, but the installer does. I tried running that i then i get the "itunes had encountered a problem" when i try to run itunes...and get the "quicktime has failed to initialize" also...what to do, i have tried many, many things....that i have read off of here and all have failed. Can you help me...thanks drocks

hi drocks11!

hmmm. i went back through your posts. i see we've tried the InstallShield Tips and Pointers with you already. but given that they don't seem to have worked, and 1722 references your Windows Installer, lets try prodding that angle for a while.

first sweep through Windows Update and make sure you're
b completely
up to date in that regard (we're trying to ensure that you've got Windows Installer 3.1v2 on your PC).

then let's try a standalone QT 7 install again. employ as much of the
b general
advice on installation problems as possible from here (it is applicable to QT installs):

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976

... and it's also a good idea to switch off your
b antispyware
during a QT install, too.

if no joy with that, try using
b method 1
from this document:

keep us posted.

love, b
