Password Problem

I'm having the same problem at the moment - Mail keeps telling me I have the wrong password, but I'm sure it's correct!

So, I'm not the only one being driven crazy by Mail continuously asking for passwords! Anybody figure out how to fix this problem?

Another user having the exact same problem. Has anyone above found a solution? The technicians with my service provider are at a loss.

Same problem...have had it for some time though, but today it's terrible. Just fyi...ISP is Comcast. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Add two more users with the same problem.
ISP is Comcast.
Outlook on my pc works just fine with comcast.
Webmail works just fine with comcast.
Outlook on my Windows phone works just fine.
My wife's Iphone works just fine.

MAC MAIL DOES NOT WORK JUST FINE.

It's not comcast, it's the mail reader.
APPLE?!?

I'm another comcast user that keeps having this issue.

I enter my password, I can then receive my email, but, only moments later, it keeps asking me for my password. I keep clicking on "remember this password in my keychain", but, it makes no difference.

Exactly the same as you. I think this might be some unique Comcast issue.

This problem is in MAIL. I Have updated from 10.4.11 to the new software and it has gotten worse (sorry about the poor english). It seems to have increased (the problem) since I used my wi fi on the hacked and non hacked 3G iPhones.

Some instances the flag jumps up after only 6 to 10 seconds.

Has anyone been able to get a Apple telephone consultant to even admit there is a problem ??

same problem here on multiple computers on multiple accounts from gmail, to numericable, to my private mailserver to the company mailserver.

main program doesnt rememeber the password, period.

for me this mess started when i started using mobile me

Hi Barbara,

I had this problem for a few days with MobileMe but it went away, so my suggestion is just a guess.

Open Keychain Access, and locate the 'key' for your mail password account, and delete it. Only do this if you are sure of the correct password (which will not have changed).
Open Mail and try and get mail. You will be asked if you want to remember your password. Say yes.
It may be worth a try.

Other posters have suggested that changing the "get mail" refresh period to 15 minutes would help. It didn't.

Other posters suggested deleting the pw's from the keychain, quitting mail, and reentering the pw's. That didn't work.

THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING!!!

i thinnk its a mail specific problem in conjucntion with mobile me.

does everyone with problem have mobile me?

I am also having the same problem with comcast mail... I also have two other accounts in Mail that have No Problem, it is just my Comcast account.... Mail

What I have done so far: I closed mail, then deleted the password in keychain, Ran Disk Utility - Repair permissions (didn't find any problems there), reopen mail and saved password in keychain,.... SAME Problem... Password not saving.

Having the same issue with Mail and my ISP is Comcast........... The icon bounces in the Dock, I type in password, message comes up again, type in password because it says that it is being rejected, yada, yada, yada...... maybe the rumored update 105.5 will fix this. Very annoying though. Judy

I think its comcast. Did change port a bit from 587 back to 25 sort of helped. But also if I manually get my mail it works fine. Seems strange because it just started happening. Seems its a pop login issue or something along those lines. Hope someone fines an answer soon?
